Tully Bull & Bike Ride

The Brief

This event was held in a small town called Tully in the tropics of North Queensland. A very exciting event for the small town of under 3000 residents. The Bull ring was constructed by Tully Bull and Bike Ride committee on a sports field right next to a relatively new grandstand, supplying a great view of the whole show.

When it came to the bull riding everyone was looking to the screens with our slow motion replays. Even the Bull riders would judge themselves as they ran out of the ring. When the crowd dispersed for the bike rides, the cameras looked to the sky to capture their long jumps.

OmniTitan handled all the vision capture for Cassowary Coast Audio & Lighting Solutions who ran the event, Lighting, Audio PA and had their excellent LED screen for our cameras to be shown on. That means roaming cameras, Broadcast cameras, and PTZ (Pan, Tilt, and Zoom) robotic operated cameras.

The whole event was recorded as well as being displayed on the large LED screen for the whole crowd to see.

Tully is known for being one of the wettest towns in Australia. With frequent rain, we planned for the worst. Cameras had rain jackets on standby, base of operations was in an enclosed van, and rain jackets for operators were ready. But not a drop was in sight, which made for a dry and cruisy production. The event lasted around 7 hours in total and the crowd loved every moment of it. And so did we.
